  1. The Future begins here! Parents’ Meeting24th September 2019 Scholastic Year 2019-2020

  2. School Opening Hours • Morning assembly starts at 8:20am sharp. It is very important that all students are present. • All primary students will enter through door opposite Gnien l-Eden. Doors open at 8.10am (exception on rainy days) • Only children who use transport will be allowed to go inside before this time from door near Our Lady’s statue.

  3. Dismissal • Dismissal will be through main door opposite Gnien l-Eden (where there are fountains) • Doors for Year 1s open at 2:05pm followed by Year 2, etc. • Don’t park in the parking if you want to leave as there are signs and you will not be allowed. • Do not go up the stairs. Wait downstairs for teachers to hand children over to you.

  4. School Uniform • Students are to wear PE uniform unless you have formal uniform items that still fit and would like to make use of. Starting with Summer uniform. You will be informed when to change to winter uniform. • When they have PE lessons all students are to come to school wearing their PE kit. • All uniform items are to be labelled.

  5. Dress Code • Students should come to school in a clean uniform. • Students with long hair are to tie it back neatly. • Any kind of make-up and nail polish is prohibited.

  6. Absenteeism • Students are excused from school only in cases of illness or for a valid reason which needs to be documented from both parents by a letter. A medical certificate needs to be presented once the child returns back to school together with the Medical Certificate Record Card. Kindly inform school when your child is not going to attend school.

  7. A Valid Medical certificate • name and address of student, • date when the child was medically examined, • the period of time that the medical certificate is valid for • clear doctor’s signature and stamp. • this must be also on the medical card you were/will be given.

  9. Discipline and Responsibility • Our school believes in discipline. Students need to follow the school/class rules, obey, study and respect their teachers & authority. • Any kind of Bullying is prohibited • Students who misbehave on school transport will not be allowed to use transport anymore. • Students who do not take care of school property/books have to pay for the damage.

  10. Communication with the school • To facilitate communication between parents and teachers we have the Home-School Link Copybook. It’s important that you check this copybook everyday, and if there is a note kindly sign next to it so that the teacher knows you have read it.

  11. Healthy Eating • Abide by our school Healthy Eating Policy. Encourage children to eat fruits and veggies. • No cakes on birthdays. No goody bags either. You can coordinate with teacher and send fruits if you want. Invitations for parties are not to be distributed at school. • Kindly inform us of children who suffer from any type of allergy.

  12. Data sheets • Kindly fill in data sheets you will be given today and pass them on by next Monday 30th September, 2019.

  13. Pick ups • Fill in form with names of persons who have permission to pick up your child/ren from school in your absence, together with their ID card number and recent photo. • When someone who is not the legal guardian of the child comes for pick up, they need to bring their ID card with them. • Persons not on the form won’t be given access via phone calls.

  14. Consent Forms • Please sign the consent forms for outing otherwise child will stay at school. Give a folder to your child so as to keep these consent forms handy. • Those parents who do not give their consent for their child to have head screened will have to take their child to Top Brands to be screened.

  15. School Calendar • Log onto your Google Calendar, by going to http://calendar.google.com • On the left, you will see "Other Calendars".  Click on the small triangle in front of the words to open it to a list. Copy and Paste the below address into the box that says "Add a Friend's Calendar", then press Enter melliehaprimaryparents@gmail.com

  19. INFO • Any tel/mobile/address change please inform administration office asap. • If child is sick and you do not receive sms please inform us. • System does not recognise foreign mobile numbers.

  20. Ethics • Those that have filled in the forms in June they do not need to refill them. • Those that had Ethics last year but did not fill in form and want their children to have Ethics they need to refill form. • Any new recruits from July till present day to fill in forms.

  21. Transport this scholastic year • VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: • Parents or guardians have to be on pick-up with the children waiting for the bus and on the drop-off point waiting for the children to return from school. NO STUDENT can alight the bus unattended by parent or guardian. • Students have to be on pick-up point at 7.30am.Earliest drop-off at school can be from 7:45am onwards. • ONLY students who are on the list sent by Education Division can start making use of transport from tomorrow. • Teachers have list of students which will make use of transport. Outside the hall, on the board, there is a list of pick-up points and which route they form part of.

  22. Transport services for this scholastic year • VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: • Parents who applied but haven’t received the confirmation email yet have to wait for said email. Then they are kindly asked to inform school and provide proof of confirmation email. • Students who misbehave either on-board the bus or at school in the morning (before the start of school) or in the afternoon (after school finishes) will be suspended from using transport with immediate effect and parents/guardians informed of action taken. • During first week it’s very normal we come across a number of teething problems, like tardiness or confusion of pick-up points. Please bear patience till things settle down.

  23. Transport services for this scholastic year • VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: • On each bus there will be an onboard supervisor, ie a member of staff, both in the morning and in the afternoon as from October 1st. It is important to note that it is not their duty to alight from bus to help students cross the street or to wait with students on stop while parents or guardians turn up. So please be considerate and on time. • Each student will be given TWO COLOURED KEYCHAINS depending which route s/he will use. Keychains have to be attached on the OUTSIDE of school bag AND outing bag. Please write your kids’ names on label. They have to be visible AT ALL TIMES.
