  4. 1. Renaissance • A time in Europe after the Middle Ages with new interest in art, learning, & achievements; means “rebirth”

  5. 2. Marco Polo • Italian trader, he traveled to China and wrote about his trip. Marco Polo traveled using the Silk Road. His journey made many curious about Asia and trade increased.

  6. 3. Medici Family • Wealthy banking family in Florence, Italy • Used their money to hire artists, architects and build libraries • Turned Florence into a center of art, learning and culture.
