Acts 16 and the Wisdom view • It was not out of God’s will to preach the gospel in Asia or Bithynia – only not the right time (sovereign will) • Paul went freely forth with the best wisdom employed into the mission field – leaving the results to the Lord • In hindsight they saw that the Spirit prevented their efforts and redirected their steps (sovereign will) • Special revelation guided them to go where they were reluctant to go • Inner peace and impressions, coupled with outward signs of approval were not a part of Paul’s methods (1 Cor. 2:3) • Paul had a calling and he was determined by the power and grace of Christ to fulfill it in every place without a witness (Rom. 15:18-21)
