Basic HDTV Terminology • HDTV (Hi Definition TV) • Set of standards capable of higher quality resolutions: 720p, 1080i,1080p • Normal Display is a 16:9 aspect ratio • EDTV (Enhanced Definition TV) • Set of standards capable of higher quality resolutions of 480p • HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) • Protection scheme – protects digital signals sent digitally from the source to the display (DVI/HDMI) • Standard endorsed by the entertainment industry • If a HDCP encoded source is connected to non-HDCP display or device the picture is relegated to "snow" or a very low resolution

Digital Cable Lengths HDMI DVI* *The maximum length of DVI cables is not included in the specification since it is dependent on bandwidth requirements (the resolution of the image being transmitted). In general, cable lengths up to 4.5 m (15 ft) will work for displays at resolutions of 2560 x 1600. Cable lengths up to 15 m (50 ft) can be used with displays at resolutions up to 1920 x 1200. For longer distances, the use of a DVI booster is recommended to mitigate signal degradation.

  16. Single Input AV to HD Converters The AVS-COMP converts composite or S-video signal to HDMI, while up- scaling to VESA resolutions up to 1080i. The HD520 converts composite or S-Video signal with stereo audio to HDMI or DVI, while up-scaling to HDTV or VESA resolutions up to 1080p.   18. USB to Video Converters The HDPiXconnects to any computer through USB and 3.5mm (headphone) jack for audio, acting as an external video card for any computer. This unit allows users to connect to HDTVs through HDMI, at resolutions up to 720P*, and is compatible with both Mac and PC. The HDAiRwirelessly transmits USB signal 30 ft to a receiver/converter unit, which acts as an external video card, allowing users to connect to VGA or HDMI monitors at resolutions up to 1400X1040 or 720P.* *A newer version will be release near the end of 2009 capable of 1080p

  23. HDMI over CAT5/5e/6 Model: AT-HD19SS and AT-HD14SS The HD19SS splits HDMI 1.3 signal to 8 CAT5 and 1 HDMI outputs. The units can be “daisy-chained” connecting up to 312 monitors to a single HD source. The HD14SS features 3 CAT5 outputs and 1 HDMI output. The HD19SS and HD14SS work with receiver models AT-HDRS and AT-HD15SRS. These units will also work with DVI signal up to 1920x1200 AT-HDRS AT-HD15SRS Also available for component Model: AT-COMPD-19S
