  3. Welcome to Austin • Welcome Everyone! • Quick comments: We seem to be at an inflection point regarding HENP and networking…things are brewing and there are lots of activities: • DoE/ESNet very active with new projects funded in MICS at BNL, SLAC, FNAL,… • UltraLight funded (more later) • Robust Data Challenge underway at LHC • LHC turn on less than 3 years away…

  4. HENP and E2E • Since I chair the End-to-End Technical Advisory Group (E2E TAG) there are some things I wanted to bring to everyone’s attention: • E2E TAG is producing a roadmap paper and we plan more general distribution shortly. Comments from HENP very welcome • Monitoring, recording and analyzing of network related parameters is underway in many projects: To what extent will HENP be deploying a GMI (Global Monitoring Infrastructure)? • See http://e2epi.internet2.edu/ for more info

  5. HENP Discussion Topics • HENP Goals --- Should we review/refocus? Where are we at now in our goals? • Funding issues and strategizing…how can we insure the needed infrastructure for HENP? • Next meeting and topics of interest. What shall we focus on and when should we have our next meeting? • Spring 2005: Topics and speakers • Joint-techs meeting: co-host again with Astronomy/VLBI (collaborate beyond nets)? • Other Topics?
