SUPERCARRETERA DE LA INFORMACIÓN • Cada año internet genera información equivalente a 75 mil veces todos los contenidos de la biblioteca del Congreso de los Estados Unidos. • En el 2000 cada persona generó 500 Mb de datos. • Entre 1999 y 2002 la humanidad generó más información que toda la creada en los últimos 300 mil años. • Sólo en EE.UU. se envían 22 terabytes de información cada año por la red. RESEÑA HISTÓRICA • 1969: La Advanced Research Projects Agency desarrolla ARPAnet • 1973: ARPAnet sale del continente americano para llegar con líneas hasta Noruega e Inglaterra. • 1985: Militares abandonaron el proyecto, y en su reemplazo ingresó la agencia federal Fundación Nacional para la Ciencia (NSF) • 1990: La red ARPAnet fue desconectada oficialmente. • 1990: El Laboratorio Europeo para la Física de Partículas crea las páginas web o WWW (World Wide Web) • 1993: El Centro de Nacional para Aplicaciones de Supercómputo de la Universidad de Illinois diseñó Mosaic, el primer hipervínculo • 1994: Se crea el primer web chileno (U. de Chile) • 1995: Gobierno estadounidense discontinuó el aporte económico para NSFnet, por lo que el sustento de Internet pasó a manos privadas.
