  5. Why Strategic Plan? • WNYCC had a great start in May 2008, however with growth comes the need for clear direction • MOA signed with P2 Collaborative of WNY in December 2008 warranted a clear plan of attack for future growth • This process has helped solidify member organization participation at a higher level and foster ownership in process

  6. Vision Statement: The Western New York Cancer Coalition (WNYCC) serves the people of WNY by acting as a liaison between individuals and organizations to provide cancer information and resources. We look globally to act locally to improve access to care, eliminating disparities and improving the quality of life for those faced with the cancer experience. As a coalition, we share and promote evidence based and best practices in community and healthcare settings, and support exploration of new ways to reduce the cancer burden through research. The work of the WNYCC is carried out by staff and coalition members using efficient and effective means of cancer communication and maximizing member support. The WNYCC continues to grow by aligning organizations and establishing relationships to address emerging needs for healthy communities.

  7. Mission Statement: The Western New York Cancer Coalition connects Western New York communities to cancer education and resources.

  8. Core Values • We believe that we can improve quality of life by empowering people to become their own health advocates; by providing education on prevention and early detection; and by encouraging the development of support systems along the cancer continuum • We believe creating consistent messaging will link agencies and individuals to the most appropriate resources including end of life care and best practice models

  9. Core Values • We believe reliable information and timely feedback are cornerstones of quality cancer care • We value the individual identities of each organization within the larger collaborative and recognize expertise and existing resources • We value active participation and full engagement of ALL involved in the WNYCC

  10. Goal 1 & 2: • By December 31, 2009, the WNYCC will have in place a formalized organizational structure to implement our mission and goals • By December 31, 2009, we will develop a financial plan to support the work of the WNYCC

  11. Goal 3: • By October 31, 2010, we will create a communication network throughout the 8 counties of WNY detailing the resources available through the WNYCC, which includes at least 2 collaborations in each county

  12. Goal 4: • By November 1, 2012, the WNYCC will measurably reduce the burden of cancer on people of WNY

  13. Coming together to combat cancer Thanks to our planning committee and continued support from P2!
