  2. Where do we serve? • 20 counties in Ohio • Network / 550 agencies • Food pantries • Soup kitchens • Senior centers • Homeless shelters • Afterschool programs • Diverse network • 80% of the food distributed from Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

  3. 2013 Distribution: • 50 million pounds of food/grocery products • That’s enough food for 107,000+ meals a day! • Where it comes from: • Food Industry: 52% • Government: • - USDA: 11% • - State: 19% • (Agriculture Surplus / Shelf Stable) • - CSFP: 5% • (Monthly Boxes for Seniors) • Community Response: 13% • (Operation Feed & other food drives)

  4. The Changing Mix • Non-perishable donations are shrinking. • Feeding America reports that 3 – 6 billion pounds of produce goes wasted each year. • The Foodbank’s average cost per pound for donated produce is $.17, compared to a cost of $.60 to acquire non-perishable items.

  5. Fresh is the Future • In 2013, the Foodbank distributed more than50 million pounds of food. • Over half of the food distributed is now fresh – including fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy. • In 2013, the Foodbank distributed more than 20 million pounds of fresh produce.

  6. 35% of pantry food requests are for children and 15% are for senior citizens.

  7. We rely on the support of more than 13,500 volunteers every year to help us grow food, sort food & get it to the people who need it most.

  8. For every $1 donated The Foodbank provides 4 meals!
