  1. Distribution Options – CAT5 This is a typical, high resolution distribution system for Digital signage. One player is used to drive multiple signs using 3rd party hardware and dedicated cabling. The 3rd party vendor used in this example is Minicom. (www.minicom.com) Physical limitations restrict the distance the signal can be sent to 1000 feet using this manufacturer of equipment. Other manufacturers can reach up to 1500 feet but are more expensive in price. QoVision Player

  2. Distribution Options – CAT5 $1,995 The QoVision Player Software in Quantity of 1 is $1,495 to the end customer. Let’s assume the PC required to run it costs $500. This makes the total player cost $1,995. QoVision Player

  3. Distribution Options – CAT5 $690 $1,995 Transmitters from this manufacturer come in single output, 8 output, and 16 output models. An 8 port transmitter is used for this 5 monitor scenario. The MSRP for an 8 port transmitter is $690. QoVision Player

  4. $225/ea. Short Distribution Options – CAT5 $690 $1,995 1 receiver is needed for each monitor. Receivers are selected based upon their distance from the transmitter. Short run receivers can be used for distances less than 360 feet. Long run receivers can be used for distances up to 1000 feet. If a monitor is more than 1000 feet away (path of cable, not straight line) different equipment must be selected, most likely at a higher price. Short run receivers are $225 each.Long run receivers are $445 each. $225 QoVision Player $225 $445 $445 / ea. long

  5. $225/ea. Short Distribution Options – CAT5 $5,500 $690 $1,995 The primary cost of dedicated, CAT 5 cabling is not usually the cable itself but rather the labor to install it. Pricing can very depending upon who is installing the cable. As a general rule use a figure of $2.75 per foot of cable as a budget for cable and installation. Let’s assume 2000 total feet of cable is needed for these 5 monitors. (400’ avg / monitor) This would result in a cost of $5,500 for dedicated cabling. $225 QoVision Player $225 $445 $445 / ea. long

  6. $225/ea. Short Distribution Options – CAT5 $5,500 $690 $1,995 For the purposes of this discussion the cost of monitors, mounts, and labor to install the monitors is not considered. Under any installation scenario the cost of the monitors and installation should be consistent regardless of the distribution method used. $225 QoVision Player $225 $445 $445 / ea. long

  7. $225/ea. Short Distribution Options – CAT5 $5,500 $690 $1,995 Using these estimates, the cost of a 5 monitor, high resolution system (not including the actual monitors) is: Player $1,995Transmitter $ 690Cabling $5,500Short Receivers $ 675Long Receivers $ 890 Total System Cost $9,750 $225 QoVision Player $225 $445 $445 / ea. long

  8. An option to installing a distribution network is to use the QoVision software on a Mini-PC and install a PC at each monitor. This solution requires no 3rd party hardware, dedicated cable or labor to install the cable. The customer simply installs a network jack and power plug at each location. 9. A QoVision player pack of 5 is $6,295 to the end user. 5 Mini-PC’s @ $895 each would be $4,475 to the end user. 10. Distribution Options – Player Per Monitor If a system using 3rd party distribution hardware cost $9,750 and a system using a player at each monitor cost $10,770 why would a customer pay the extra $1,000? 11. Distribution Options – Player Per Monitor If a system using 3rd party distribution hardware cost $9,750 and a system using a player at each monitor cost $10,770 why would a customer pay the extra $1,000? TCO Total Cost of Ownership

  12. Distribution Options – TCO TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) considers impacts of being the owner / operator of a digital signage system after the initial purchase. Signage systems using distribution equipment are susceptible to maintenance issues and functionality limitations the player per monitor systems avoid. QoVision Player

  13. ? ? Distribution Options – TCO Distribution systems have many more points of possible failure to manage. If one monitor does not look right the problem could be in the transmitter, the cable, the receiver, or the monitor itself. Most times the end customer will not have the knowledge, skills, or desire to trouble shoot the problem and will have to hire a service company to come find and fix the problem. ? ? QoVision Player

  14. Distribution Options – TCO Distribution systems have critical points of failure that can bring entire systems down. If the single QoVision Player or CAT 5 transmitter fails then all 5 monitors will fail and result in a complete system outage. QoVision Player

  15. Distribution Options – TCO When a distribution system is used all monitors connected to the system MUST show exactly the same thing. There is no ability to program one monitor or a group of monitors separately. QoVision Player

  16. Distribution Options – TCO QoVision Player If the customer ever wants to put a different program on some of the monitors they must buy more 3rd party equipment and labor to rewire the system. QoVision Player

  17. Player Per Monitor systems have relatively few points of failure to test when problems occur. If a monitor is having trouble only two things could be the problem - the Player or the monitor. 19. Distribution Options – Player Per Monitor Net Manager Software can be used to remotely reset the monitor in the event someone has changed a setting. QoVision Player on Mini PC Existing IP Network Cabling

  20. Player Per Monitor systems are not susceptible to mass failure. If a player goes down only one monitor is affected while the other four continue to operate. 21. Player Per Monitor systems allow the user to program all monitors to show the same content but they can also program the monitors to show unique content on each one with no additional cost. If they decide to change one monitor’s content later they do not have to rewire the system. They change the programming in the software.
