    2. Subj Title : Surveying and GIS Credit Hours : 1+1 Number of Weeks : 18 Course : TE / TCC Instructor : Lt Col (R) Nasrul Haq Office : OFFICE # 214 EE DEPT Located at first floor.

    3. Requirement This subj is studied by the students of Telecommunication Engineering to have a deep understanding of map versus ground relationship which will enable them to make optimum use of maps in planning their communication networks.  Pre-Requisite The students are expected to have basic knowledge of trigonometry to understand this subj.

    4. Schedule Week No.01 Introduction,  and Basic Concepts. Week No.02 Principles of Survey, Procedures of reading and booking of Angles with a Theodolite . Week No.03 Traverse Computations of an open traverse/ Angle Measurements with Theodolite Week No.04 Traverse Computations of a closed traverse/ Angle Measurements with Theodolite Week No.05 Map Grid design and Traverse coordinates plotting. Week No.06 Plane Table Survey-Theory Week No.07 Plane Table Survey-Practical

Week No.08 Plane Table Survey -Practical WeekNo.09 Mid Term Exam WeekNo.10 Leveling - Theory WeekNo.11 Leveling - Practical Week No.12 Contouring Exercise      Week No.13 Map Finishing to include Legend, Scale Line, Marginal notes and colouring etc·  Week No.14    Global Positioning System- History Segments, Working etc·

    8. Text Book Handouts by Instructor Svy & Leaveling by Kanetkar  Note: All students are advised to be always in possession of electronic calculators while coming for survey class. The students must attend all classes in general and all practicals in particulars as marks are earmarked for each session. Practical work will not stop due to cold weather or rain. Students may like to arrange necessary protective measures. Class senior will hand over written parade state/attendance report before start of each class. During field work students must not look at sun through the telescope of a theodolite or a level
