  1. INNOVATION Demonstrated feasibility of six degree of freedom vibration control system Six Degree of Freedom ActiveVibration Damping Small Business Innovation Research INTELLIGENT AUTOMATION, INC.ROCKVILLE, MD • ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Developed new approach to active vibration isolation that learns the system dynamics as the system operates • Discovered new configuration for Stewart Platform which simplifies control algorithm mathematics • Validated adaptive filter approach on Stewart Platform (six degree of freedom structure, 25 to 35 dB attenuation) • COMMERCIALIZATION • Contract with Lockheed Martin to reduce chatter in machine tools (consortium with JPL, Sandia National Laboratory and Ingersoll Milling Machine Tool Co.) • Contract with scanning probe microscope manufacturer • Control hardware is a successful commercial product, $80K sales to date Performance Validation on Micro-Precision Interferometry Testbed • GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS • Isolation of vibration generated by space-based cryogenic cooling systems • Other NASA and DoD space applications requiring vibration damping Jet Propulsion Laboratory 1990 Phase 2; SS-120; 5/36/96
