  4. Introduction: 4Overall objective is the creation and development of digital learning environments related to design. 4focus on knowledge creation, storing, dissemination of design education in four sectors - university, industry and the informal sector. Digital-learning environment for Design

  5. Rationale: 4At present: 20 design institutes + over 100 commercial art colleges in India + over 10,000 skill based institutes.- expected to grow exponentially 4Need to expose the non-formal sector about innovation, human factors, quality and aesthetics through understanding of design.4Visual medium is suited to explain, understand and learn aspects of design. Digital-learning environment for Design

  6. Key themes: 41. Digital online content for learning design with distance e-learning programs on design42. Social networking for higher learning with collaborative learning space for design - for synchronous and asynchronous interaction43. Digital design resource database (including the craft sector)44. Design inputs for products of National Mission in Education through ICT Digital-learning environment for Design

  7. 1. Digital online content for learning Design: 4Create online content for design learning 4Create systems for online learning through distance education4Synchronous live transmission of demos, case studies, lectures, workshops, etc. Digital-learning environment for Design

  8. 1. Learning Design: 4Design Studios <> Classrooms4Week long Modules <> Hourly Lectures4Demos, Case studies, Examples <> Class Lectures 4Project Based learning <> Text book learning4Experiential learning <> Memory based learning4Creative Problem Solving <> Method based Solving Digital-learning environment for Design

  9. 2. Social networking platform for design learning: 4Create a social networking platform for design learning 4Create a collaborative space for both synchronous and as well as asynchronous design learning 4Active interactions between learners and educators Digital-learning environment for Design

  10. 2. Design Networking: Digital-learning environment for Design

  11. 3. Digital Design Resource Database: 4Create systems for documentation of existing knowledge of design and crafts 4Create access to this information database(will become a national resource and treasure) Digital-learning environment for Design

  12. 4. Design Inputs for Products of this National Mission: 4The participating design institutes can provide design inputs to the various products of the mission 4Inputs could in form of Product Design, Visual Communication Design and Interface/Interaction Design. Digital-learning environment for Design

  13. Project duration: 4Pilot Phase 6 months4Project Phase I 1 ½ years (implementing)4Project Phase II 1 year (testing & consolidating)4Project Phase III after 3 years (systems for continuity) Digital-learning environment for Design
