Provide comprehensive training on safety and security to students, employees and parents of the District • Campus Security Monitors (63) • Received Security Guard Class “D” training and certification • Identified by uniforms • Assigned to appropriate schools • Provide training to new administrators, new employees, substitutes, bus drivers and campus security monitors • Hired an Investigator • Provided Parent/staff gang awareness workshops

  3. Deliver high quality customer serviceto internal and external customers • Implementation of a quicker volunteer criminal history check • Provide 24/48 hour response to inquires from parents and staff • Perform in house personnel investigations • Assist cost center heads with personnel issues

  4. Provide a safer and more efficient department to the District. • Realign department by adding the safety and security functions to school police • Hire and train campus security monitors • Perform background checks on PALS volunteers at no cost • Provide in service training to District staff

  5. Utilize existing resources effectively and efficiently. • Perform Background checks on PALS Volunteers at no cost. Saving the District $23.00 a person • Align safety and security under school police • Use technology and other information to make sound business decisions • Apply for grants to assist School Police Department

  6. In addition … • Creation of the School Police Department • FCIC/NCIC teletype machine • Cameras in all of the schools • Installed sex offender/predator screen process in all the schools (RAPTOR) • Fenced several entire campuses • Added security/safety criteria to Educational specifications for elementary schools. • New crisis plans • Reorganization of safety features under school police/safety and security (cameras, alarms, and campus security monitors) • Created Gang Policy adopted by School Board • Hired an Investigator for personnel/criminal investigations

And … • Fingerprint contractors and vendors per Jessica Lunsford Act • Perform Background checks on all PALS volunteers • Develop policies pertaining to safety and security • Provide security and safety assessments • Maintain a safety and security focus in all operations • Provide training to staff regarding safety and security issues
