Achievements so far • Two Natura 2000 Seminars: Boreal: May 2012 and Atlantic: December 2012 regions • Alpine Preparatory Workshop: June 2013 • Background information compiled • Main threats and best practice identified • Recommendations for action made • Concrete actions launched or planned • Communication Platform established

  3. Ongoing: • Alpine Seminar: 25-26 November in Graz • Mediterranean Process: Compiling background information. Next step = Preparatory Workshop • Macaronesian: Bilateral process: Spain & Portugal • Continental/Pannonian/Black Sea/Steppic: First Steering Committee meeting on 10 December 2013 • Marine expert group meeting: 7 November 2013

  4. Some lessons learnt • Limited resources but acknowledgment of the huge interest of the process • Successful workshops and seminars • Cooperation enhanced within and between Member States • Need for more pro-active involvement of actors, incl. MS, NGOs and other stakeholders • Need to involve regional actors (authorities, organisations,…) and existing networks
