  2. B.F. SKINNER - BEHAVIORIST BORN BURRHUS FREDERIC SKINNER ON MARCH 20, 1904 AND DIED AUGUST 18, 1990. SKINNER “WAS AN AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGIST, AUTHOR, INVENTOR, ADVOCATE FOR SOCIAL REFORM, AND POET”.

  3. BEHAVIORIST The Behaviorist emphasizes the importance of the external environment in the determination of behavior and maintains that the influence of environment is systematic, constant, and the prime determinant of behavior. This is observable and measurable.

  4. BEHAVIORIST IMPACT ON TEACHING/TRAINGING • Breaking down the skills and information to be learned into small units. • Checking student’s work regularly and providing feedback as well as encouragement (reinforcement) • “Teacher centered” instruction

  5. JEAN PIAGET JEAN PIAGET WAS BORN ON AUGUST 9,1896 AND DIED SEPTEMBER 16,1980. HE ATTENDED HIGHSCHOOL AT THE AGE OF 11. HE WAS A BIOLOGIST, PSYCHOLOGIST, AND AN AUTHOR.

  6. COGNITIVIST The cognitivist recognize that much learning involves associations established through contiguilty and repetition. They also acknowledge the importance of reinforcement. Cognitivist view learning as involving the acquisition or reorganization of the cognitive structure through which humans process and store information.

  7. COGNITIVIST IMPACT ON TEACHING / TRAINING • Educators must plan a developmentally appropriate curriculum that enhances their students’ logical and conceptual growth. • Teachers must emphasize the critical role that experiences – or interactions with the surrounding environment-play in student learning.

  8. ADULT EDUCATION ENVIRONMENT Behavioral objectives: Competency-based education Skill development and training Cognitive development: Intelligence, learning and memory as function of age Learning how to learn

  9. CONCLUSION Behaviorism or CognitivismTheory which ever theory one thinks is the best, one must use the theory that best works for ones learners, for the reason that, not all learners learn the same.
