What did Martin Luther King do? • Fought for the rights of black people in a non-violent way • Organised large scale boycotts of buses that kept black and white people separate • Was given the Nobel Peace Prize for his work • Made America and The World think more about the rights of every person on earth.

  4. Martin Luther King was assassinated in Memphis in 1968. In 1983 a national holiday in America was dedicated to him and his ideas

  5. He is probably best remembered for his great speeches! Such as his ‘I have a dream’ speech in Washington in 1963.
