Delano,CA,November11,2014 –WilliamRitcheyInsurancehostedits2ndCIGInsuranceCommunitySafetySaturday,October18th inDelano, California.Thefreefamily-friendlyeventattractedover400attendees. Children,teensand adultsalikereceivedawealthofsafety-relatedinformationand resourcesfromover20local,regional andnational organizations. Ritcheyadded,“Asasmall businessowner,wearethrilled toberecognized bysomeof theleadersof thecountry, stateand city; but moreimportantly,wewant toget themessageoutabout safety.Webelieveanounceofprevention isworthten poundsofcure.Even ifwecanmake asmallimpact,weconsiderthisourmission,ourcommitment toourcommunity.” • ChildrenareSaferand ParentsReceivedVital SafetyInformation.HighlightsIncluded: • Thecomplimentarychild carseatinspection station,sponsoredbySafeKidsCentral California.Over48childsafetyseatswereinspected bytheCaliforniaHighwayPatrolwithtrained childcarseatinspectiontechniciansfrom CapKofKernCounty. • Over159childrenwereserved atTheKlaasKidsFoundationPrint-A-Thon whichprovided digitalphotoIDs&fingerprintingforeverychild.ParentsreceivedafreeDNAcollectionkit,child-safetytips,anda9-point planonwhattodo iftheirchilddisappears. • Parentsand teenslearned about thedangersofdistracteddriving.MothersAgainst Drunk Driving(MADD)and theBakersfield PoliceDepartment provided “ALifeInterrupted”programinformationand crashcar. • TheKernCountyDepartment ofHumanServiceseducated familiesaboutthedangersofleavingchildreninhotcarswithits“KidsinHot Cars"demonstration. • ChildrenandfamiliesenjoyedsteppingintotheKernCountyFireDepartment SafetyTrailerwheretheylearned howtostaysafeincaseofafire. • KernCountySheriff’sDepartment brought several vehiclesfromitsBakersfield SearchandRescueDivision,including itsK9team. • DelanoPoliceDepartment provided safetyand crimepreventioninformation. • AmericanRed CrossCentral ValleyRegionoffered emergencypreparednessinformation. • First 5Kerngaveoutkitsthatincluded preschool-levelbooks,safety-relatedgiveawaysandinformationforparentsofchildrenrangingfromnewbornstofiveyearsofage. • CityofDelanoPublicWorksDepartment WaterDivisionhandedout informationabout“WaterConservation”mandatoryactivitiestakenbythe Cityduring “Drought Emergency”FirePrevention. • BoyScoutsofAmerica–SouthernSierraCouncilprovidedemergencysurvivaland safetyinformationand knot tying demonstrations. • Girl ScoutsofCentralCaliforniaSouthprovided firstaidkits,lunchbags,pensandsafetyinformation. • 211KernCountystaffhandedout Ripcardsthatprovideinformationabout 211. • MexicanAmericanOpportunityFoundationbroughtinformationonchild careand pre-schoolservices. • United WayofKernCountyoffered informationabout theiremergencyprograms. • KernCountyAnimalServicessharedinformationabout emergencypreparednessforpets. • DelanoChamberofCommercesharedinformationabout theirorganizationand programs.
