  3. EL Program • Reading Support Class • Based on STAR Scores • Replaces regular elective • EL facilitator & paraprofessional • CELDT (California English Language Development Test) • September 20 - 24 • Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, Comprehension

ELAC(English Learner Advisory Committee) • ELAC Responsibilities • Advise principal on school’s EL program • Work with SSC to develop Single School Plan • Needs assessment, R-30 LC Report, attendance issues • Dates • Thursday, October 21 (7p – Library) • Thursday, December 9 (7p – Library) • Thursday, February 3 (7p – Library) • Thursday, March 17 (7p – Library) • Thursday, May 5 (7p – Library)

  5. Typical Day • A period • 6th Grade • English / Social Studies • Math / Science • Elective & P.E. • 7th / 8th Grade • 6 separate classes • After school programs • Intervention, Boys & Girls club, etc.

  6. Required Materials • Schedule • Arrive early the first day • Locks • P.E. clothes • Assignment Notebook • Textbooks • Registration packet forms • Emergency card, 8th grade promotion • No packet = wrong address • School lunch program

  7. School Procedures • Current phone number and address • Removing students from school • Adult w/ I.D. • Written note if parent not picking up child • Person must be named on emergency card • Leaving messages in Spanish – ext. 4000 • Also, Mr. Wutkee at ext. 1023

Other Announcements • Make-up orientation – Tues 8/31 (10a – 12p) • Minimum Day on 1st day of School • 12:30 p.m. dismissal – students gone by 1 p.m. • Back to School BBQ – Friday 9/10 • 5 p.m. $10/person • Back to School Dance – Friday 9/17 • 6th grade: 3:30 p.m.; 7th/8th grades: 5:00 p.m. • Common Planning Days • 2nd Tuesday of each month • 1:30 p.m. student dismissal • Students need to be off campus by 2 p.m. • Back to School Night – Thursday 9/23
