  3. New Hampshire Department of Education • Focused monitoring is the point of convergence for IDEA and NCLB. • IDEA (2004) Measures progress toward meeting IEP goals • NCLB- Measures all students performance in reading and math.

  4. Demographics • Dover, New Hampshire is situated between the Bellamy and Cochecho Rivers in the center of the Seacoast region of New Hampshire. Dover is convenient to New Hampshire and Maine lakes and beaches, is about an hour by highway from Boston, Massachusetts, and Portland, Maine, and is less than an hour from the state's capital city of Concord.

  6. Student Census • 4,234 Students • 454 (11%) Students identified under special education guidelines • 846 (20%) Students identified in low SES area.

  7. Dover’s DINI History • 2005-2006 - DINI in Math • 2006-2007 - Exited as DINI in Math • 2007-2008 - Year 1 in Reading • 2008-2009 - Made AYP in reading but not in math. Dover remains a DINI Year 1 Reading and a new DINI Year 1 math.

Parent Involvement as Defined by NCLB The term “parental involvement” means : • That parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning; • That parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education at school; • That parents are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child;
