  1. Main Characters: -Sheriff Andrew Jackson "Andy" Taylor(Andy Griffith) -Opie Taylor (Ron Howard- as Ronny Howard) -Deputy Bernard "Barney" Fife (Don Knotts) -Beatrice "Aunt Bea" Taylor (Frances Bavier) -Gomer Pyle (Jim Nabors) The Andy Griffith Show! Genre: Comedy Known for its sketches of simple life in a small town, the show revolved around a benevolent patriarch of Mayberry, N.C., and his life as a single father and sheriff. Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith) was the ideal Atticus Finch father figure for his son Opie (Ron Howard), and the quaint kitchen of Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier) provided the perfect setting for blunders and life lessons. For example, one morning during breakfast, Opie tells them he doesn’t like his new teacher because of how much homework she gives. “Is it ’cause she gives too much or ’cause you ain’t done it?” Andy asks. In the end, another father-son lesson ends harmoniously.
