  2. Day 1 What is an adjective? • What does it answer? How many? What kind? Which one?

  3. Adjective Wheel • Circular piece of construction paper • Wheel on white copy paper • Scissors • Brad • CREATE • TAKE NOTES • GLUE INTO JOURNAL

  4. Identify the adjective in the sentence. (What Kind?) • 1. The giant feet would not fit any shoes in Sears. • 2. Many believed the Titanic to be an unsinkable ship. • 3. I love my new car. • 4. The colorful fish stood out in the water. • 5. The frozen pie was too cold to eat.

  11. HOMEWORK: • Paper Bag Adjective Activity • Place an object in the bag (school appropriate). On the bag, write at least 5 adjectives describing the item in order for the class to guess item. Appeal to the senses!!

  16. Proper Adjectives- • A proper adjective is a proper noun used as an adjective. It begins with a capital letter. • We listened to Hawaiian songs.

  17. Proper noun used as an adjective: • When a proper noun is used as an adjective, it answers the question What Kind? Or Which One? About the noun it modifies or describes. • Examples: • Proper NounPN used as adj. • Baltimore Baltimore newspaper • April April showers

  18. You can change many proper nouns into proper adjectives. Sometimes you will have to change the spelling. • Proper NounEnding Proper ADJ • Japan -ese Japanese • Africa -n African • Egypt -ian Egyptian • Italy -ian Italian • England -ish English
