  2. Information about cholera! • Cholera was a very dangerous disease back in the 1800’s. Many people died from this disease, including adults and children. Cholera was caused by human waste in drinking water! Although this sounds disgusting; people didn’t see it, smell it, or taste it! By, 1830 about 300,000 people died and killed over 500 people. John Snow figured out how Cholera happened but he had to prove his point! So, he did some background research and mapped the deaths and figured out the deaths were located in one area, which was the water fountains where people got their water from. John Whiting gathered his information by knocking door to door asking if the people had any symptoms and what their drinking water was.

Scientific method: dr. snow! • Hypothesis: John Snow believed that water company that the people used to get their water from was the cause of this disease. • Problem: People from the 1800’s were dying from an unknown disease “Cholera” in London, England. • Background Research: John Snow mapped the deaths of all the victims of Cholera. • Experiment: John Snow and John Whiting went from door to door in the city asking every person if they had any symptoms and what water they were drinking from. • Data: The data collected between the S & V company showed that the deaths per people, which was 10,000. • Conclusion: John Snow concluded that the S & V water company was causing Cholera. Later, the company was shut down and the disease was no longer spreading!
