  2. Goal One • What was the 1st representative government in the 13 colonies ? • Answer: House of Burgesses • What was the Mayflower Compact? • Answer: gov’t of the Pilgrims and it provided a direct democracy

  3. Goal One • This was a economic system used by England where the British used the American colonies for resources? • Answer: Mercantilism • To help pay huge war debts of the French and Indian War, what did the English do to the colonies? • Answer: place high taxes on them

  4. Goal One • What was a major cause of the American Revolution? • Answer: taxation without representation • Why did the Puritans leave England? • Answer: they came to America to worship as they saw fit
