When solving absolute value equations you must rewrite the equation as two linear equations.-isolate what is in the absolute value bars-rewrite it as two equations, one equal to the positive the other equal to the negative

When solving absolute value inequalities:

-isolate what is inside the absolute value bars

-solve one as it is written and write another inequality switching the direction of the symbol and changing the sign on the number

Remember! Absolute value is never negative!
