  1. Welcome to Bible Study Greetings Song Sweet Beulah Land by Mike Purkey Spirit Song with Lyrics Opening Prayer

  2. Planned for God's Pleasure You were planned for God's pleasure: Synonyms:content, delight, enjoyment, gladness, gratification, happiness, relish, satisfaction

  3. Isaiah 45:11-12God The Maker • 11“This is what the LORD says— • the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: • Concerning things to come, • do you question me about my children, • or give me orders about the work of my hands? • 12It is I who made the earth • and created mankind upon it. • My own hands stretched out the heavens; • I marshaled their starry hosts.

  4. Revelations 4:11 • “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” • NLT "…For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

  5. Agree or Disagree? God created us in his image. Since He is our Heavenly Father, we should look like Him. That is, our hearts, thoughts, and service should be based on love, compassion, forgiveness, mercy, grace, healing, towards all people.

  6. God’s Pleasure • Bringing enjoyment to God, living for his pleasure, is the first purpose of your life. • Psalm 149:4 "For the LORD takes delight (pleasure) in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation." • Ephesians 1:5 "God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure."

  7. God Blessed us With Senses He wired you with five senses and emotions so you can experience it.

  8. God has Emotions too

  9. Exodus 20:3-6 3 “You shall have no other gods before me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand [generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments.

  10. The Queen of Sheba Visits Solomon 1 Kings 10:9 "Praise be to the LORD your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD’s eternal love for Israel, he has made you king, to maintain justice and righteousness.”

  11. Bringing pleasure to God is called "worship" • Psalm 147:11 "The LORD delights in those who worship (fear) him, • who put their hope in his unfailing love."

  12. John 4:19-20 19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

  13. John 4:21-24 • 21 Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

  14. Worship is not for your benefit, it's for God. • We don't worship to please ourselves • Isaiah 29:13 "The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.

  15. Dedicate what you do to God Romans 12:1-2 "1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

  16. Reverend Billy Graham • “God is unchanging in His love. He loves you. He has a plan for your life. Don't let the newspaper headlines frighten you. God is still sovereign; He's still on the throne.” • “My prayer today is that we will feel the loving arms of God wrapped around us, and will know in our hearts that He will never forsake us as we trust in Him.” • “My home is in Heaven. I'm just traveling through this world.”

  17. Thinking About My Purpose • Point to Ponder:I was planned for God's pleasure. • Verse to Remember:Psalm 149:4 "For the LORD takes delight (pleasure) in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation." • Question to Consider: What common task should I start doing as if I were doing it directly for Jesus?
