Possessing the Promised Land – Part 2 of the Believers Promised Land • Part 1 - Israel delivered from being Slaves in Egypt to making entrance into the promised land of Canaan • 1 Corinthians 10:11 These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.

  2. The Dedicated Things Possessing the Promised Land

  3. I. Promised Land Perspectives • Comparative to Israel’s Canaan • Entering his rest – only we who believe can enter (Hebrews 3 and 4)

  4. Jesus – proclaiming the kingdom of God (Matthew 4:23) • Unless you are born of water and the Spirit you can not enter (John 3:5) • Seek first his kingdom and all these thing added (Matthew 6:33) • For 40 days after resurrection speaking things concerning the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3)

  5. The kingdom of God • Is not geographical – woman at the well - where is the right place to worship? Worship in Spirit and Truth (John 4:23) • Is not material – the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 4:17) • But manifests in material things – seek the kingdom and things added (Matthew 6:33) • Stewarding material things can impact kingdom possession (Luke 16:11)

Not just entrance but possession • I press on to possess that perfection (maturity) and lay hold of that for which I was laid hold of by Jesus (Philippians 3:12) • (Hebrews 3:14) "For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end;“ • Heirs of God, co-heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:17)

What part is God’s and what part is mine? • Tithe – tenth, 10% • (2 Corinthians 9:10-11) "Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness; 11 you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.“ • Seed to sow – tithes and offerings • Bread to eat – what remains after the seed • Increase the harvest of your righteousness

  15. Luke 16:10-13 • Untrustworthy about worldly wealth • Not faithful with other people’s things • Why trusted with things of your own? • Who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? • Cannot serve both God and money

The Lord’s Treasury at PFC • PFC Ideal – fully functional and fully funded • Fully functional – each person participating as part of the body, causing the growth of the body • Fully funded – each one tithing of the first fruits of their increase (the dedicated things that belong to the Lord) so there is enough in the storehouse

Tithing and the New Testament? • Jesus as priest after the order of Melchizedek still receives the tithe (Hebrews 7:8) • (2 Corinthians 9:6-8) "Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. 7 Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;"

  23. Possessing the Kingdom • Giving the Lord his part with a heart to give cheerfully • Reaping bountifully • Abundance for every good work
