Project title and acronym: “Sustainable water management at regional scale through Airborne Remote Sensing based on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)”- AG_UAS Objective: To demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of a new Remote Sensing technology based on UAS (unmanned aerial systems) to improve water management, contributing to its sustainable use on a regional scale. What does it propose? • A problem that exists with respect to the use of water: • A developed technology (UAS-VTOL) • Resource utilization (efficiency of hydraulic infrastructures, irrigation optimization, etc.) • Safety of mine exploitation storage facilities. • Resource protection (dumping, thermal pollution, etc.) • Efficient control of the water status. • Water resource inventory. = + • Spatial information(images) With the contribution of the LIFE financial instrument of the European Community

Expectedresults: 1 demonstrator prototype instrumented with a high resolution / gyro stabilized thermal infrared (IR) camera (8-12 µm), with maximum take off and landing weight (MTOW) of 75 kg and 1,5 h endurance 1 demonstrator prototype instrumented with a multispectral camera ( 6 bands) with MTOW of 20 Kg and 30 min endurance Spectral, geo-referenced, imaging information of the environmental applications objective for interpretation and analysis in order to evaluate technical feasibility Real operating costs information about imaging data collection and interpretation in order to evaluate economic feasibility Establishment of contacts and enough audience at national and European level of public bodies related to water management as potential futures customers Establishment of the best operative procedures to carry out the proposed environmental missions including, among other, the suitable atmospheric conditions and time during day for maximum detectivity, flight conditions, the on board instrumentation and the operating parameters With the contribution of the LIFE financial instrument of the European Community

Communication and dissemination: 18 communication actions from 2010 to 2013, for example: Preparation and dissemination of a project brochure Presentation of the project in conferences or events in a national level Creation of a project Web : www.lifeaguas.es Development and dissemination of an informative DVD of the project Organization of workshops to present the project results in Europe Organization of a European seminar on technologies relating to efficient water management Developing and dissemination of an informative document about project results Presentation of project results With the contribution of the LIFE financial instrument of the European Community
