Trust • Mark of a mature, thoughtful, confident and secure relationship (Prov 31:11-12) • Paul and the Corinthian church: • Rumors and accusations against Paul, 2 Cor 10:8-11 (13:3); 11:5-7, 16-21 • Some brethren there no longer trusted Paul • He had been open; Now he urged them to “open their hearts”, 2 Cor 6:11-13; 7:2-4 3

  3. Our Relationship With Christ Engenders Complete Trust 2 Tim 1:12; Rom 8:37-39; 1 Pet 4:19 • We trust Christ because He always speaks the truth to us, John 14:6 • Trust between each other must be built on unwavering integrity, 2 Cor 1:15-20 • Speaking truth spreads trust! Eph 4:25 (15) TRUTH 4

Our Relationship With Christ Engenders Complete Trust 2 Tim 1:12; Rom 8:37-39; 1 Pet 4:19 • We trust Christ because He always acts in our best interests • He always loves us, 1 John 4:7-11 • An atmosphere of trust grows out of humbly serving one another, not boastfully demanding our due, Phil 2:1-4 LOVE 5

Commonality in Christ Produces Trust Gal 3:28; 1 Cor 1:9-10, 13 Trust Promoted • Common faith, Titus 1:4 • Common mind, Phil 2:19-21 • Common service, Phil 2:22; Col 3:24 • Common citizenship, Phil 3:20 Trust Hindered • Going beyond the faith, 1 Cor 4:6; 1 Jno 2:19 • Self-seeking,Phil 2:21; Jas 3:14-16 • Conceit, Romans 12:16, 3 • Worldliness,1 Jno 2:15 6

  6. Where there is Trust there will be… • Communication,Eph 4:25, 31 • Unity in action,Amos 3:3 • Friendship,Eph 4:32; Phil 2:4 (Prov 17:17) • Compassion and forgiveness,Col 3:13; Matt 18:21-22 • Peace,Colossians 3:15 7

  7. Trust Each Other • Generates and galvanizes confidence in one another • Crucial to successful relationships: • With God, Matt 11:28-30; Gal 3:26-29 (Psa 34:8; 2:12) • The Church, 1 Corinthians 12:25-27 • The Home, Ephesians 5:33 8
