  2. Before Mesopotamia and Egypt grew up in great river valleys with rich soil. Greece had no great river valleys. Instead, it had mountains, rocky soil, and many miles of seacoasts. The geography of Greece influenced where people settled and what they did. A great number of Greek cities were located within 60 miles of the sea for easy boat access.

  3. During Vocabulary Define the following people, places, & terms • Peninsula • Crete • Mycenae • Peloponnesus • Agamemnon

  4. During Geography • Find the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers on page R19. What country is directly east of where they flow? What country is south of the rivers? • On page R20, what country lies west of Egypt? What body of water separates Egypt and Europe? • On page R18, what body of water separates a part of Israel and Jordan? What body of water does the Gaza Strip sit next to? • On page R17, what country borders Greece to the east? What is the capital of Greece? • Look at pages R2 & R3 and locate all our places of study to this point in the year (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Israel, Greece)
