  1. An Adventure in the Universe of BooksReaders’ Day Contest2008 March

  2. It was a competition in the form of an imaginary space travel. The teams „travelled from planet to planet solving gamelike exercises and quizzes in connection with the books they read.. They started out from Earth Base reaching all 8 planets and returned to Base after successfully going through all the adventures. The teams were handed out tasks beforehand They had to read assigned childrens’ literature They chose a team captain They found a name for the team They made a uniform or symbol common for all members of the team They made a poster „advertising „ the book They made a potato stamp for the team to make the documents „official” Travelling document with drawings and space for scores They created a badge All classes from grade 1 to 4 participated in the contest

  3. Base: the Earth • Teachers evaluated and gave scores for completing previously assigned tasks. • Teams were given extra scores for the imaginative costumes and high quality of the badges or team logos symbolizing the unity of the team.

  4. Planet 1Memory Planet • Students fill out a questionnaire about the books they have read

  5. Station 2Planet Mime • According to the rules of the Activity game children mime the names of objects and characters in the books.

  6. Planet 3Planet • Children read small ads and guess who of the characters could have put them up. They write their own small ads for other characters.

  7. Station4Planet Liar • Students correct false statements in a text about the assigned books.

  8. Station 5Planet Blind • Children draw the characters of the novels with blindfolds.

  9. Station 6Planet Yes-No • Barchoba. They guess the names of as many things as they can in a given time.

  10. Station 7Planet Why Read • Why is it good to read? • What is the importance of reading ? • They give their reasons and arguments

  11. Station 8Planet Blurb • They write recommendations and blurbs for the books they read

  12. Scores are added up and prizes are given out
