  1. Pepper Response to Sandea A. Stanley Culpepper Keith Rucker And Tim Flanders The University of Georgia

  2. OBJECTIVE Determine pepper tolerance to Sandea applied precision-directed, topical, or under plastic.

  3. TreatmentsUnder plastic • 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 ounces Sandea per Acre • 4 replications per treatment * All Treatments Contained 0.25% NIS by Volume

  4. TreatmentsOver-the-Top and Directed • 0.5 ounces Sandea per Acre • 4 replications per treatment * All Treatments Contained 0.25% NIS by Volume

  5. Application Information • Plots = 6 ft. by 15 ft. • 20 or 14.8 GPA spray solution • Directed treatments precision applied to lower 25% of plant canopy • Injury ratings measured • Three harvest dates

  6. Pepper Response to Sandea Applied Postemergence. 14 DAT. b % injury a Lewis Taylor Farms, Tifton, 2001.

  7. Non-treated Sandea (0.5 oz/A) topical

  8. Pepper Yields with Sandea Applied POST to Pepper. Jumbo - Harvest 1 & 2. a a b box/A b Lewis Taylor Farms, Tifton, 2001.

  9. Pepper Yields with Sandea Applied POST to Pepper. Jumbo - Harvest 3. a ab b b box/A Lewis Taylor Farms, Tifton, 2001.

  10. Pepper Yields with Sandea Applied POST to Pepper. Jumbo - Total Harvest. a ab b box/A b Lewis Taylor Farms, Tifton, 2001.

  11. Pepper Response to Sandea Applied Under Plastic. 6 WAP, 8 WAT. b ab % injury a Lewis Taylor Farms, Tifton, 2001.

  12. Non-treated Sandea (0.5 oz/A) applied under plastic

  13. Non-treated Sandea (1.0 oz/A) applied under plastic

  14. Pepper Yields with Sandea Applied Under Plastic. Jumbo - Harvest 1 & 2. a a a box/A b Lewis Taylor Farms, Tifton, 2001.

  15. Pepper Yields with Sandea Applied Under Plastic. Jumbo - Harvest 3. a a a a ab b box/A b Lewis Taylor Farms, Tifton, 2001.

  16. Pepper Yields with Sandea Applied Under Plastic. Jumbo - Total Yield. box/A Lewis Taylor Farms, Tifton, 2001.

  17. Conclusions • Pepper tolerance to topical Sandea applications is unacceptable. • Directed applications most likely unacceptable. • Additional research focusing on Sandea under plastic is needed but tolerance and nutsedge control is questionable.
