  2. Purpose To provide you with: • Time to collaboratively plan lessons from an entire chapter. • Strategies for assessment and using released CST questions.

  3. Focus • You will be planning Chapter 13 from the “Bridge to Algebra” book.

  4. Doing the Math First • Answer all of the questions in Chapter 13 • As you go through the chapter make notes on the “Preview of Chapter” Planning sheet

  5. Planning Templates • In your groups, plan a section of Chapter 13 using the Planning and Pacing Guides. Main Idea (Goal) of Section Context CA Standards Additional Key Vocabulary Warm Up Student Misconceptions Clarifying Questions Other Carnegie Resources Assignments (Homework)

  6. Planning Template • Consolidate your group’s plan onto one electronic copy of the planning guide.

  8. Uploading Your Plan Post your group’s plan in the relevant section of the website

  10. Strategies for Review • If you gave students this question, what do you think is the most likely outcome? • How can we prevent them from guessing? • How can we ensure that the students can meaningfully work on this word problem?

  11. Multiple Choice • Some multiple choice questions can be used to demonstrate to students the idea of “reasonableness” in the answer. • Just a little work shows that answer choices A and D are not possible answers. • Many students will be sidetracked by answer choice C19/5 = 3.8 but at least now we’re down to a “50:50” chance of success.   13. Revisiting Your Lesson • In your groups, revisit the lesson you planned earlier. Modify your lesson plan to incorporate released CST questions.
