  3. Governor Ritter’s “Colorado Promise” Identifies two clear goals: • Cut by half the number of high school students who fail to graduate. • Double the number of Certificates Degrees awarded over the next 10-15 years.

  4. Many Choices for Postsecondary Credit • PSEO or other Dual Enrollment • Onsite • Online • Hybrid • Fast College/Fast Jobs • 5th year/Middle College • Articulation Agreements – ECE, Ag, etc. • Advanced Credit Pathway • Other

  5. Purpose • Attract more students to postsecondary education • To provide college credit for equivalent learning at the secondary level in career and technical education • Aligns with Perkins IV criteria • Included on Plans of Study

Program Description • Based on community college common course numbering system (CCCNS) • High school curriculum aligned with postsecondary course (s) 80% • Discipline content teams review curriculum • Completion with “B” or better; students must use within two years of graduating high school or obtaining GED • Intended for Certificate/AAS Degree programs only – NOT Transfer Courses

Process • Advanced Credit Pathway course crosswalks can be nominated for approval by either an individual secondary institution with a postsecondary partner or through a Statewide Content Team. • Secondary Institution: • Any secondary institution may identify course(s) for possible ACP credit and then contact a postsecondary partner to initiate an ACP proposal (Postsecondary ACP contacts are included on the final page of this document.) • Postsecondary curriculum committee reviews/compares secondary course curriculum with postsecondary CTE program course content outline in CCCNS and determines if it meets 80% match

Process • Statewide Content Team*: • Postsecondary faculty and secondary instructors meet to collaborate, review and crosswalk competencies of the secondary ACP course proposal • Statewide Content Team will be notified by Program Director of ACP nominations from individual secondary institutions. Comments and feedback from team members would then be directed to SFCC representatives for consideration during the review • *Statewide content teams involve postsecondary faculty from the appropriate discipline team and secondary instructors. These teams meet throughout the year to collaborate on curriculum and to build partnerships.

  9. Process • When the course competencies match at 80% or greater the proposal is submitted to the SFCC who recommends or denies; if SFCC recommends course, it goes to Educational Services curriculum committee where it is approved or denied. • If course is approved it is then added to program approval database as a renewal/revision with approval by the Program Director. If approval is denied, it goes back to the postsecondary curriculum committee or Statewide Content Team for further review

Postsecondary Curriculum Committee Reviews/ Compares secondary course curriculum (course objectives, academic standards, competencies, etc.) to postsecondary CTE program course content outline in CCCNS; and • 2. determines secondary/postsecondary match (80%) SFCC CTE Subcommittee Recommend/Deny secondary course for ACP credit * Denied Denied Approved by Educational Services Curriculum Committee Secondary institution adds to program approval database as a renewal/revision with approval of Program Director * If proposed crosswalk is nominated by an individual secondary district, Statewide Content Team will be notified to provide feedback through their SFCC representative
