  3. Goals • Common Windows 2000 Active Directory • Populated by automation from central official sources where practical • Common Exchange 2000 Architecture • Unify mail clouds to reduce “surprises” • Careful mixture of central and local (departmental) services and control

  7. Blazer Dir. -> Active Dir. • (near) Real-time actions • Account activations • Password changes and resets • E-mail routing information • Mailbox creation • Daily Updates • “Phonebook” information • Deletions • Pre-deletion notification

  8. Pre-Deletion Notification • Blazer Directory (authoritative) entries live on • Active Directory accounts/mailboxes must be removed due to cost upon end of active affiliation • Students (1 year after last class) • Faculty/Staff (3 months) • Pre-deletion notification

  9. Status (Items completed) • Study/Design Phase • Test lab phase • Pre-production testing • Production AD Deployment(full UAB population) • “Dogfood” Exchange Usage • Roll Out to 1/5 University (migration, new users)
