  3. History • Strong Tradition of Excellence at Kinard • 3 time defending City Champion team • Known for excellence on and off the course • 3 “Top 8” medalists in last years tournament

  4. Frequently Asked Questions Question: Who can make the team? Answer: • 7th or 8th grade student golfers at Kinard • Boys or Girls • Team will be approx. 12 players

  5. Frequently Asked Questions Question: What are the costs involved? Answer: • $5 per 9 hole round played • $25-$35 for a golf shirt (optional)

Frequently Asked Questions Question: What is the format for the season Answer: • Eight (8) matches will be played vs. the other Middle Schools – 9 holes at City Park, Collindale, or Southridge • 6 players each match • End year with a 18 hole tournament to determine City Champion – Thursday May

  7. Frequently Asked Questions Question: What is the time commitment to this? Answer: • Approx 50% of players will compete in each match • Events 1-2 times per week – Early dismissal involved • There is no transportation from the District.. Families will need to help • Willingness to play/practice on your own or at coach assisted Drop-In’s at a course

  8. Frequently Asked Questions Question: How good do I have to be? Answer: • There are more good golfers in this school than any other school in PSD • Realistic expectation: Shoot at or less than 55 on a 9 hole course like Collindale (counting every stroke, every penalty, etc) • Not there yet? – Take lessons, join a summer youth program, get out and play – See ya next year or at the next level

  9. Frequently Asked Questions Question: What are the coaches looking for? Answer: • Young men/women who represent themselves and Kinard with Character • Students who take their schoolwork seriously • Current or potential skills on the golf course

  10. Missed the Meeting - Handout Question: I missed the kickoff meeting… what do I need to do? Answer: • Be the best student athlete you possibly can be (character, grades, etiquette, etc) • Review the Powerpoint from the initial meeting at Coach Blank’s Webpage • Fill out PRESEASON SURVEY on line at the Golf Webpage • Turn in signed score card showing VALID 9 hole score to Coach Blank – Absolute last date is 8:15 am Monday 3/21 • Play in Tryout Round (Exact Date: TBD – 1st week after Spring Break) – 1 day – 9 holes • Potential 1st Cuts • Play in 2nd Tryout Round – 2nd Week after Spring Break • Team Selection around April 4th
