  1. Working with Percent Worksheets 4,6,7

  2. Changing Percent to Decimal Percent (%) means 100ths (2 places after the decimal) To convert a percent to a decimal, convert the percent to a fraction with denominator 100. Divide by moving the decimal place two places to the left. 34.5% = 34.5/100 = .345 To convert a decimal to a percent, change the decimal to a fraction with denominator 100. This is accomplished by moving the decimal place two places to the right. Change the fraction to a percent. .723 = 72.3/100 = 72.3%

  3. Convert between Fraction and Percent To convert a percent to a fraction, divide the percent by 100 and reduce the fraction if needed. 25% = 25/100 = 1/4 To convert a faction to a percent 1 - Convert the fraction to a decimal by dividing the numerator by the denominator. 2 - Then move the decimal 2 places to the right. 2/3 = .666 = 66.66%

  4. Solving Percent Problems Is means = Of means times % means 100ths What percent of 120 is 30 - x/100 * 120 = 30 12 % of what is 15 - .12 * x = 15 11% of 16 is what - .11 * 16 = x

  5. Solving Percent Problems with a Proportion = What percent of 120 is 30 = 120x = 30*100 3000/120 = 25% 12 % of what is 15 = 12x = 15 * 100 1500/12 = 125 11% of 16 is what = 100x = 16 * 11 = 176/100 = 1.76

  6. Percent of Change – Increase / Decrease To Calculate the percent of change, Find the difference between the two numbers. Find what percent the difference is of the first number. If the first number is smaller that the second number, it is an increase. If the first number is smaller than the second, it is a decrease Find the percent change to the nearest percent: From 120 ft to 205 ft 205 – 120 = 85 85/120 = x/100 - .7083333 * 100 = x - x = 71% Increase
