  2. The GRIFFISS INSTITUTE The primary role of the Griffiss Institute is to advocate and facilitate the co-operation of private industry, academia and government in developing solutions to critical cyber security problems .

Mission • Advance the study of the security and vulnerability of public and private information systems and infrastructures • Carry on scientific research for the purpose of developing applications useful in improving the security of such systems and infrastructures • Disseminate information on and conduct seminars, conferences, study groups and research regarding such issues.

  5. Vision “Create a Center Of Excellence in Information Assurance in the Mohawk Valley” • Afford opportunities in education and training • Create an Innovation Center to foster new business in the Mohawk Valley • Work with local business forming teams to secure new sources of funding

  6. Vision Become a leader in education and training in IA • Team with SU,SUNYIT, UC and MVCC to offer short courses specifically aimed at unique aspects of IA • Offer a facility to host courses related to IA for AFRL & local business leading to advanced degrees • Bring in companies and institutions form across the nation to offer relevant & specialized courses • New Horizons, SI government Solutions, etc. • Secure funding to enable new courses and provide follow up activities (example: Project Advance & HS program) • Bring together local talent to create new programs and courses for education and training (example: “Identity Theft”) • Facilitate symposia, conferences and workshops (AFRL, Local Business, Professional Organizations, Information Institute, etc)

  7. Vision Create an Innovation Center to foster new business in the Mohawk Valley • Build new facility to serve as a “Business and Technology Incubator” • Work with local business forming teams to secure new sources of funding

Resources • Facilities – Existing GI facility + building expansion • Talent – Available from AFRL, local business, local colleges and universities • Technology – Mature technology available from AFRL for transfer to commercial development, DHS, law enforcement, state and local government agencies, etc.
