  1. Two Two Types Types of Can Can Be of Brake Brake Controllers Controllers That Be Used Used For For Trailers Trailers That Brake controllers are generally used to control brakes of trailers. These devices are attached to all types of trailers that are above two thousand pounds. An electric trailer version supplies power to brakes so that the movement of the trailer can be controlled easily. In general there are only two types of brake controllers, both of which are controlled by the driver of the tow vehicle. Once the pedal is pressed, the pressure switch allows drivers to apply brakes independently. The first version of brake controller is the time-delay activated brake controller. It works on time-delay circuit that sends a gradual voltage signal to brakes. This inexpensive type of brake controller is most commonly used in all types of trailers. This profile controller is easy to install and suits almost all type of trailers. At times its usage is doubted, especially when hazard flashers are in use. Pendulum style or inertia activates brake controllers are the other style of brake controllers for trailers. When the driver applies pressure on brake pedal, the circuit applies proportional voltage to brakes. The advantage of this type of brake controllers is that the trailer slows down at the same speed as the towing vehicle. The other benefit that arises from this is that there is less ware and tear of vehicle’s tyres, and that results in smooth stoppage of vehicle. The disadvantage is that it needs expert installation and is a bit on the expensive side. This controller occupies more space than the other variety. Tow-vehicles equipped with factory tow package can be installed with brake controllers easily. Mounting controller under the tow vehicle and connecting the wires are the two major tasks that are required for installing brake controllers. Vehicles which are not wired need the help of professionals so that there will be nothing wring during their usage.
