  2. It is very important for us as Catholics to have a basic understanding of the Bible. The Bible is the most popular ‘selling’ book in the world. We refer to the stories in the Bible as Scripture (Scripture means sacred text) It is a book that reveals the origin, mission, and destiny of man.

  3. It is a Library made up of 73 Books. There are approximately 773,692 words in the entire Bible. About 40 writers were involved It covers more than 1,600 years of history, though it is not a history book

  4. Read together “Background to Scripture” in BE WITH ME on Pages 214-216

  6. Copy the Table of contents into your notes • Divide sections as Old Testament and new Testament • Complete word search on the back of your handout when you are done

  7. Journal # 9 Please find the various verses in the Bible in front of you. Write out the verse that you found, and what you think they mean. • Proverbs 3:5-6 • Psalms 37:4 • Matthew 16: 26 • 1 Chronicles 4:9-10
