  2. # of Applicants and Graduates • The recommended policy of the department is to accept 2 new students per professor annually (the practice though has been till this year about 5 per professor!

  3. Graduates mostly of a very high quality • Many dissertation awards • International refereed journal articles • BUT too many unfinished candidates • Many part-time students • Has led to restrictions in admissions • Desire to move from rather unstructured study plan to a program type study structure • New post: a program director
