  1. BME & Education Scenarios

  2. SCENARIO ONE • Yusuf is a year 7 student in your School who has recently arrived from Afghanistan. You are aware that he is very traumatised because of the events to led to his being brought over to England. He seems to be a very gentle boy but is finding it very difficult to settle down. The parents have also informed you of their concern about his inability to focus even at home. What will you do?

  3. SCENARIO TWO • Ayo is a year 9 student whose parents came originally from Nigeria. He is well known in your school for bad behaviour even though he can sometimes be nice. His parents are aware of this and are actually at a loss of what to do. As one of his teachers, you know that Ayo is a brilliant boy and would like to give him a chance before he is permanently excluded. What will you do?

  4. SCENARIO THREE • Kofi is a ‘gifted and talented’ year 2 student whose parents came originally from Ghana. He is always getting in trouble for not listening in class and also for disturbing other children after he has finished his own work. What will you do?

  5. SCENARIO FOUR • Chan is a year 10 student whose parents are of Chinese origin. Until now, she has been a very focussed and level headed girl. However, she recently became friendly with a girl in year 12 and her behaviour suddenly changed. She became very sexually aware and she lost her focus. This led to low grades in her recent G.C.S.E. Her parents are very angry about this and her threatening to send her back to China to leave with her aunt. What will you do?
