  1. A. The Background • B. My Burden • C. The Beginnings • D. The Bearing of Fruits

  2. Intro.: My Commendation on 20 Oct. 1996 • 1. No assembly commended worker in Penang. • 2. Penang was the hub of foreign missionaries from UK, Australia, New Zealand, etc. to Perak, Selangor, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Singapore, etc. • 3. Missionaries in Penang were mainly foreign missionaries, e.g. Mr. & Mrs. John Chapman (1859), Mr. & Mrs. McDonald, Mr. & Mrs. Hardwich, Mr. & Mrs. SS Adams, Mr. & Mrs. AE Phillips. Mr. & Mrs. W. Wilson. • 4. There were local workers in the English- and Chinese-speaking assemblies, and local missionaries with other inter-denominational mission agencies.

  3. 1. FSMH & C and BRGH had been in Penang for nearly 140 years, but no servant of the Lord had been commended to serve in the mission field. • 2. The new generation was not familiar with the rich History and Heritage of the Assemblies. • 3. Very few knew of assembly missionaries, assembly workers, assembly mission agencies, assembly publications. • 4. To add to the dilemma, our own assembly missionaries have no platform and are shy of publicising their work for the Lord. They trust God in faith for their provisions and protection and do not publish personally what they do.

  4. C. The Beginnings • 1. The MMS Mission Conference at The Life Chapel in 1996/7 (?). Its 4 challenging projects to KC Ung: • a. Annual Mission Conference => bimonthly Mission Night. • b. The daily and weekly Prayer Letter and monthly Gospel Challenge => The bi-monthly The ECHOS. • c. The Cup-of-Coffee a day Pledge to donate RM1.00 a day to the Mission field sent to MMS => channelling gifts through MN Committee to assembly missionaries/agencies. • d. The MMS Mission trip to Myanmar => my future mission trips to Cambodia-Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Australia, etc. • Thus, 13 Sept. 1997, the Mission Committee was formed.

  5. 1. Mission Partnership with missionaries in the field through Contacts and Correspondence to know more about their work. • 2. 18. Dear Mr & Mrs. Ung,Thank you so much to you both for all these while. I could never have done it in stepping out in obedience if not because of you & MN, exposure to MN and missions awareness. In fact, I am a bit sad as it is still slow but I will keep praying that serious willing brothers and sisters would step out.Yes, I am ever thankful to the Lord for all things, all partners and in everything! I survive because of His calling and goodness! Praise Him!I never thought that I (can make it) will be here for now 5 years already. What more as I am 5 years older now than when I stepped out. ;-)My back, shoulders and right leg pains are much better now since taking Glucosame (although expensive as you know too). In fact, at the previous MN at SNGH during my report on GIM I had a sudden pull on my spine but thank God I was able to continue and I guess nobody noticed it. Praise the Lord!I am also deficient in Vitamin B (muscle pull) and I am trying to discipline myself to drink boiled 'green beans' water which is claimed to be rich in Vitamin B.Once again, thank you for remembering, your wishes, practical and prayer support. In Christ, meilai

  19. Are you Aware… • Of our Assembly Missions? • Of our Assembly Missionaries? • Of our Assembly Mission Needs? • How much time and money… • Have you made Available for the above? • Are you encouraging others from our assemblies to go out to serve and establish more NT assemblies? • Are you prepared to go to, or support, the front line?
