Statistics and health strategy Health Care Data Requirements • Health Care Policy development has significant data requirements: • Planning: Infrastructure, workforce and services. • Regulation: Patient safety and quality of care. • Policy Development: Evidence base for policy formulation and adjustment. • Financing: Payment for service, outcomes and quality. • Surveys: Patient experience, population risk factors, attitudes. • Benchmarking: Between providers / internationally. • Accountability: Progress against plans, service improvement etc

Statistics and health strategy Cooperation with MDP&S • MDPS information is used for and relied upon for: • Qatar National Health Accounts (annual SCH publication). • Population • Government expenditure • Household Income and Expenditure Survey results • MDPS assists or is involved significantly in any household based survey: • Reviewed & approved Health Utilization and Expenditure Survey 2014 (HUES) • A partner in the next Health-related survey (Qatar Health Survey, 1st wave) • STEPWise survey 2012 (Public Health Department) • World Health Survey 2006. • Population based projections from the MDPS are used heavily for any healthcare planning, including facilities, workforce, insurance • MDPS has recently conducted population Census 2015 – this will feed in and improve data for all planning, sampling frames for the surveys and population projections in particular.
