BACKGROUND • DEFRA Innovation Fund - £10k • Hounslow’s bid: • Making sustainability more accessible • Local Area Agreements (LAA) • Innovative project for Hounslow • London Sustainability Exchange (LSx): • Development of Toolkit • Sustainability workshop for LSP members – 19th September 2007 • 4R’s – Responsibility, Respect, Resources and Results

HONSLOW SUSTAINABILITY STANDARD What is the Hounslow Sustainability Standard Toolkit? • A tool which makes it easier for project officers to incorporate sustainability into outcomes and targets proposed for the inclusion in the new LAA • Online questionnaire matrix: • Investigates the sustainability of the proposed outcome against the agreed LSP sustainability objectives • Ensures sustainability is included at the early stage • Each measure is scored against the sustainability objectives and presented on a spider diagram • Results presented to the LSP when in discussion with central government

IMPLEMENTATION & MONITORING • Demonstration of the toolkit – guidance notes available • Testing Stage – Hounslow LAA Project Officers, LSP Partners • Feedback– Prioritise, Importance, Educational Tool • Sustainability Web-Portal – resource and information centre • Promotion - Newsletter, Presentations, HM, Press Release, SDC.
