Heritage and Love Project • February… we celebrate both Black History Month and Valentine’s • Your Group will create and film a cooking show. • 100 % Sign Language • Include grammar concepts & idioms • Create One Soul Food/African American Traditional Dish • Incorporate Valentine’s Day & 3 “snippets” of Black History

  3. Heritage and Love Project • Each person in the group must sign an equal amount of time on camera • Cooking Show must be at least 5 minutes long • Create the dish and bring it in for our Black History Month Valentine’s Day Party • We will watch your show in class together

  4. Heritage and Love Project • Tips to get a good score • Stretch your skills – don’t try to sign the minimum… Go For The Big Sentences • Create a Script in GLOSS and practice it that way from the beginning • Have Fun – try to use idioms and remember DEAF CULTURE!

  5. DUE TODAY 1/25 • 2 Ideas about the Show • Funny, Romance, Family…. • Roles and responsibilities of group members • Recipe • Estimated Cost of your recipe/project • Start working on script (Rough Draft Due – Tues. 1/29)

  6. Chat – Get to Know the folks in Your Group – everyone must sign! 1/28 • Youngest Person 1st to ask the question • What was your favorite Cartoon? • If you had super powers… what would you have and WHY? • What is the grossest thing you have ever eaten?

  7. Folders – Picture It! 1/28 • Create a cover that reflects your Cooking Show • Oldest Person – Start the picture with 2 shapes. • Next person add 2 things • Keep going around. • Last person adds 2 things PLUS 3 words that describe your Group’s Characteristics

GOALS & SCRIPT 1/29 • Group Members Can Work On • Looking up vocabulary in red & blue books • Create a list of grammar concepts that need to be in the script • Create a grocery list • Create a list of props & materials • Make a to do list and pacing calendar (when certain things need to be done by) • Create a contact list with emails and phone numbers Goal = SCRIPT Make a list of vocabulary words that would be good in the script Pick 2 or 3 idioms to add Pick 3 – 4 ASL grammar concepts to add to the script (shoulder shifting…non manual markers…)

GOALS = SCRIPT & Pacing Calendar 1/30 & 31 • Be SURE this stuff was done • DUE TODAY - pacing calendars • Looking up vocabulary in red & blue books • Create a list of grammar concepts that need to be in the script • Create a grocery list • Create a list of props & materials • Create a contact list with emails and phone numbers Be sure all of these are done by today Goal = Practice and Polish SCRIPT Start practicing the signs Be sure everyone has an equal amount of signing time Be sure that idioms, grammar and valentines vocabulary are correct and in the script

Be sure it is accurate – Stay away from Dr. MLK, Rosa Parks, and Harriett Tubman • Dictionary Stuff • All Bell Work – completed • Words Counted & Written on Each Pg. • Idioms Notes – At least 30 out of 46 • 950 – 1000 w/ Idioms & Bell Work = A
