  2. Mentor Text: Jack February 26 I tried on of those poems that looks like what it is about. This is Mrs. G. talking: You try a poem in the shape of a picture and see what it looks like. I will bring Jack’s poem around to show you in a minute.

  3. Daily Review: What is a verb?

  4. 10-5-10 Objective: • I will apply new knowledge of verbs in my writing. • HW: Write 5 sentences using verbs of “being” in each sentence.

  6. Verbs: • Verbs are action words. • It is anything you can do. • Sometimes a noun can be turned in to a verb. • For example: A bat is a noun, but if you are batting it is a verb!

  7. Start a brainstorming map of your story. (When you are done you can start your rough draft.) • You will pick one of the Mentor Text responses from the Jack stories that you wrote. • Look through your book and put a star beside the response you would like to use.

  8. Journals! • BEFORE YOU LEAVE! • Please turn your journals into the bin on the table. • I will go through them and return them tomorrow!

  10. A narrative is when the writer uses the following technique, he or she must be sure to include all the conventions of storytelling: plot, character, setting, climax, and ending. It is usually filled with details that are carefully selected to explain, support, or embellish the story. All of the details relate to the main point the writer is attempting to make.

  11. 5 Paragraph Essay • 1st Paragraph-Introduction • 2nd Paragraph-First point you want to talk about • 3rd Paragraph-Second point you want to talk about • 4th Paragraph-Third point you want to talk about • 5th Paragraph-Conclusion to you story

  12. Start your story from. • You should be working on your rough draft. • Remember this should be five paragraphs. • Each paragraph should be at least 5 sentences, but probably more.

  13. Closure: • Name five verbs of “being.”

  14. Long Term Memory View: • Give me a prepositional phrase.
