  • Verbs are action words.
  • It is anything you can do.
  • Sometimes a noun can be turned in to a verb.
  • For example: A bat is a noun, but if you are batting it is a verb!

Start a brainstorming map of your story. (When you are done you can start your rough draft.)

  • You will pick one of the Mentor Text responses from the Jack stories that you wrote.
  • Look through your book and put a star beside the response you would like to use.

A narrative is when the writer uses the following technique, he or she must be sure to include all the conventions of storytelling:

plot, character, setting, climax, and ending. It is usually filled with details that are carefully selected to explain, support, or embellish the story. All of the details relate to the main point the writer is attempting to make.
