Improving Social Accountability • A common thread across the various social accountability interventions is that they take the users of public services as a starting point • rather than focusing on service providers’ accountability to policymakers alone, the idea is to engage citizens at the bottom of the public service delivery chain by providing easy access to information on public programs intended for their benefit. • this empowers citizens to demand higher standards, monitor service quality, and challenge abuses by officials with whom they interact
