  3. What we had to do? This service project was for National Honor Society. We had to complete two big group service projects every year and taking care of children was always my preferable one. We first went to the homeless shelter and then we divided the group up. Some of us wanted to play with children, some of us wanted to prepare food and the rest wanted to clean up the garden.

  4. Continued…… I first tried to play with those little kids who were about 5-8 years old. They were very intimated first and wouldn’t talk to me. Then I started to read books with them and told them about what I was like when I was at their age. Soon they became closer with me.

  5. Continued…… There was a little girl who seemed very upset all the time. I asked her and she told me no one in the world cared about her and that’s why she was in the homeless shelter. Her words had shaken me and I had to hug her very tightly and promised her that everyone loves her and at least I cared about her a lot.

  6. Continued…… We then ate lunch together. It was a fun experience to see how all the kids were laughing so adorably at those silly jokes we told them.

  7. Lastly…… Although it was only short five hours, I learned a lot from the experience and at the moment when I saw the kids’ smile, I suddenly felt like I was there not for my service projects points, but to see their bright smile.
