  7. 4 year course planning Page 5 of the CPG provides a chart designed to assist students with their four year course planning.When designing a four year course plan, refer to Page 6 of the CPG regarding courses offered every other year.

Articulation Reports • Computer program designed to help increase the accuracy of freshman class placement in: • English • Math • Science • Freshman Academy • Foreign Language • Special Education The only courses you will request in Skyward for 2011-12 will be electives and study hall. The HS Counselors will assign freshmen to PE, Health, and Driver Education.

  9. Recommendation Letters • Following receipt of scores from the March 30th EXPLORE test, Geneseo High School will be mailing a letter indicating all recommended core courses. • If a parent has concerns about the course recommendation(s), please contact Mr. O’Dell or your child’s high school counselor.

Selecting Electives • Course numbers which end in “0” meet either semester • Course numbers which end in “1” meet first semester • Course numbers which end in “2” meet second semester • Quality Core courses end in “3” for 1st semester and “4” for 2nd semester • Make sure you select both semesters of a year long course. Year long courses are indicated in bold on page 2 of the Course Planning Guide. (i.e.foreign language, band, choir, Family and Consumer Science, Intro to Ag).

  11. Study Hall • You may take one or two semesters of study hall. • First semester study hall (90121). • Second semester study hall (90122).

  12. Meetings at theMiddle School • Counselors met with the entire 8th grade class today to distribute a course planning guide and list of course offerings. • Students and parents can begin to enter course requests in their Skyward Account today. • Counselors will check the computer entries and collect the list of course requests and a computer printout of course requests February 8th. • Students will need to bring the printout of course requests with them to school on February 8th.

  13. Directions for Completing Registration • Make sure you select at least 4 credits entered under “courses requested”. If you have 4 credits, you must select a first and a second semester study hall. If you have 5 credits, you need only select a first OR a second semester of study hall. If you have requested 6 credits, you cannot request a study hall either semester. • To begin the process, you will log on to the Family Access page using either the parent or student access. Follow the steps on the next frame. • Once in family access, you will need to change the tab at the top of the page from the middle school to the high school.

  14. Directions for Completing Registrationcontinued • 1. Change the tab at the top of the page in Skyward course requests from Middle School to High School • 2. Go to “Courses for 2011-2012” (left side column) • 3. Click “Update Requests” (Middle of Page) • 4. Highlight each request (Follow your Pink registration worksheet for choices) • 5. Click on “Add Course” • 6. After all courses have been selected, go to “selected” tab to verify choices. • 7. If correct, print this page. This page must be signed by a parent and student. Bring to school on February 8th. • 8. Log out

  15. Signature Page Your skyward printout must have parent and student signatures. The print out of your requests must be turned in to the middle school computer lab on February 8th. Please do not request “alternates” in online registration. Write at least 1 full year class and 1 semester “alternate” class on the back of the skyward printout page. • YOUR QUESTIONS??
