  3. Coach To-Dos • Gather your team • Attend coaches’ training • Hold regular practice times • Inform parents about travel (known and potential) and costs • Update Administration • Calculate a Budget

Budget Planning • Student Materials Budgeting • Follow OM Regulations • District Support for OM • District to Pay • Registration Fee ($120 per school) for those who send application to Michael Elder by October 1 • Coach Stipend • Must know the name(s) of the coach(-es) by November 14New payment process- to be paid in March (following Eastern Regional) • $200 per school as of current budget (can be divided between two coaches if desired)

Budget Planning Continued • Travel to Eastern Region OM Tournament • Onslow County Schools is looking to reserve one room per team for the coach in Kitty Hawk • One hotel room for Friday night and Saturday night for the schoolPossibly Travelodge Outer Banks/Kill Devil Hills • ½ day substitute for Friday, February 28 so you (we) can travel • $100 travel fund per school (paid to one coach) (to defray the cost of your gas)

  7. Budget Planning Continued • District can only pay for employees(cannot pay for team volunteers) • Parents need to make their own hotel reservations and travel plans • State and National Competitions • Success and Moving On • Funding as Available • Fund-raising by teams • Talk to your administrator about appropriate depositing of raised funds • Explain potential costs to parents in advance

  8. Notes • Make sure props will fit through classroom doors and that students are able to move them independently • Remind your team to practice in any direction. They may enter a stage from the opposite direction they are used to entering. Students need to be flexible with this. • Parking is always a concern. Give yourself time to walk. • 7 Brains and 14 hands (not parent/teacher doing work)
